Born June 15, 1863, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Educated at the University of Toronto Trinity College, graduating in 1887 with a bachelor's degree in medicine, an M.D., and a master's in surgery. Did postgraduate work in pediatrics and urogenital diseases in London. Opened a private practice in Portland, Oregon, in 1889, and joined the staff of the University of Oregon Medical School shortly afterwards. Retired as Professor Emeritus of Urology in 1938.
